New 4x4 tire from US tyre specialists:
The General Tire Grabber HTS: Good on the Road and Off

Hanover/Charlotte, NC, February 2008. With the new Grabber HTS, the American tyre maker has now added another 4x4 specialist to its line-up. The tyre is well designed for use on asphalt and easily navigable terrain. Its Duragen tread pattern offers reliable grip, good cornering and faster water expulsion on wet roads. The new 4x4 product from General Tire is manufactured in a wide array of sizes and is suitable for a broad selection of American, Asian and European 4WD vehicles.

The new Grabber HTS allows the hallmark American tyre brand to offer a further fitment possibility to drivers that use their vehicles mainly on the road but still don’t want a wet meadow to scare them off of an occasional off-road jaunt. With just these customers in mind, the tread surface made possible by innovative Duragen technology was equipped with an attractive and high-grade blend of tread grooves and blocks that combines excellent tracking stability on asphalt and high off-road performance. The tread ribs contribute by exerting a stabilising effect on the shoulder blocks at high road speeds and precisely and quickly transmitting steering movements. On wet roads, four wide tread grooves see to it that water is removed from the contact patch and quickly dispersed to the sides via cross grooves. Circumferential tread grooves with tenacious grip provide for fast acceleration and short braking distances. At the same time, they improve adhesion on slippery surfaces. An extra-wide contact patch with well-balanced force distribution gives the tyre low rolling resistance. This translates into higher fuel-efficiency and more eco-friendly mobility.

The General Tire Grabber HTS is already available at tyre dealers in 24 sizes. Approved for speeds of up to 210 km/h (131 mph), the new tyre is offered in diameters of between 15" and 20", widths of 225 to 275 mm and cross-sections of 65 to 85 per cent.
