American Tire Brand is Revitalizing its Image:

General tire, logo, new logo

General Tire Unveils New Brand Logo

Hanover/Charlotte, NC, July 2007. The American tire company General Tire is now advertising its innovative spirit with a revitalized brand logo. The existing trademark bearing the “General Tire” wording followed by the “GT” abbreviation now has more dynamic visual impact, distinctively packaging itself for the future.

Here you can download the press release as a word-file (166 KB).

This new logo is part of General Tire's campaign to update its image. The brand has, for example, introduced new products such as the all-terrain Grabber AT2 and the Altimax line of tires, which are designed especially for European vehicles. This new brand logo opens the way for transforming General Tire, which plans to continue expanding with new and innovative products.

It was only after General Tire had conducted extensive market studies testing various logo concepts in the US that they decided on this new trademark. All of the design proposals from one market research agency were presented to selected consumer groups in the target market groups. This new logo is the one that elicited the greatest positive response.

General Tire – Tires since 1915

General Tire, located in Charlotte, North Carolina, continues its 92-year history of producing tires for all types of motor vehicles since being founded in 1915.

Continental took the company over in 1987. Today, General Tire distributes tires worldwide for passenger vehicles, trucks and for industrial applications, including specialty tires for 4x4 vehicles.

The Continental Corporation is a leading automotive supplier of tires, brake systems, chassis components, vehicle electronics and technical elastomers. In 2005, the corporation posted sales of EUR 13.8 billion, and currently employs a worldwide workforce of about 87,000 employees.

The tire divisions are an official sponsor of the UEFA EURO 2008™, which will be held in Austria and Switzerland in June 2008, and the UEFA UNDER 21 European Championship, which was held in the Netherlands in June 2007.
